On October 21st, 2007 Mary and Anne joined me on a trip to Giant City State Park in Makanda, Illinois. We hopped in my car and drove approximately 16 minutes to the beautiful State Park. Giant City is just south of Carbondale and is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Giant City was formed 12,000 years ago by large bluffs of sandstone. There are many different activities to do while there. They are: hiking, camping, picnicking, hunting, fishing, rock climbing and rappelling, horseback riding, lodging and dining. On our adventure we hiked along 3 different trails. The trees are turning colors of red, orange, and yellow making for a beautiful scene and the weather was just perfect for hiking! Or total millage traveled was 19.16 miles, making Anne and Mary's current miles traveled 2,942.5! The Latitude for Giant City is 37.617N and the Longitude is -89.208W.
