On Tuesday, November 6, 2007, Mary, Anne, and I traveled to Jonesboro, Illinois. We traveled 22.1 miles to the Lincoln Memorial Picnic grounds. This park is part of the Shawnee National Forest. The park is the sight of the third series of senate debates between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas. In the park there is a monument where Mary, Anne, and I got our picture taken. Besides the monument, the park has picnic shelters, a gazebo, and a pond. The park is used by a lot of locals for recreation. There are a few walking trails and with the beauty of the park it makes for an enjoyable exercise. The park is located -89.268 longitude and 37.455 latitude. Once we took a few laps around the pond, we loaded up the car to return back home. On our way out of the park, I realized I had a flat tire. We waited on my father and while we waited we played on the playground equipment. Once the tire had been changed, we piled back into the car and traveled the 22.1 miles back to Carbondale. Mary and Anne have now traveled a total of 3298.28 miles.

Sarah, Anne, and Mary's trip to John. A Logan College

Hi!! Here is the tale of Mary, Anne, and me on our trip to John A. Logan College in Carterville, Illinois. The three of us loaded up into my car and taveled the 9.79 miles from Carbondale to John A. in Carterville and another 9.79 miles back. This brings our total miles to 19.58 miles. We thought it was important to visit John. A college because of the historical significance of the man it was named after. John Alexander Logan was an American soldier in the Mexican-American war and was a Union soldier in the Civil War. He was IL senator and unsuccessfully ran for Vice President of the United States. He was born in Murphysboro, Illinois March 4, 187. The longitude of John A. Logan is 89.08 W and latitude is 37.76 N. It was a very fun trip. The ladies really enjoyed it :) The dogs have no traveled a total of 3254.08 miles!!!
