Casey and the girls travel to Ferne Clyffe State Park

My name is Casey Fisher and I took the dogs to Ferne Clyffe State Park. I drove in my truck to the park which was a round trip of 50.58 miles. The latitude was 37.60732 and the longitude was -88.9795. This park is located about 12miles south of Marion. Ferne Clyffe covers over 2,500 acres of protected natural habitat. Over 200,000 nature lovers come to visit this location every year. When I added my dog miles to the adventures, our new total is 2, 348.10 miles!! Hooray--let the adventure continue...

Mary and Anne sitting on the memorial stone at the Veterans Living Memorial. My father's name is on this memorial so both Marion and Anne got to see where he served and with whom he served. This monument means a lot to me not only because my father's name is on it, but also that it is a wonderful reminder of the men who served our country.

There is a real tank on the lot at the VFW, so Mary and Anne decided they would like their picture taken while sitting on the tank. There was a pretty good wind blowing that day and I didn't have anyone with me to take my picture, but in this picture you can see my hair blowing in front of the camera. Great photographer, huh.










Here is a close up of Mary and Anne sitting on the actual Veterans Living memorial. They enjoyed their visit to the memorial and would have liked to have stayed but the wind was a really blowing and I was afraid they might get blown away, so we packed up our backpack and headed to SIU for our Social Studies class.

On Friday, October 5, 2007, I took Anne and Mary to Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Sight. This is a reconstructed village of where Abraham Lincoln spent his early childhood. Some of the featured buildings include the New Salem Saw- and Gristmill, Berry-Lincoln Store (the first and second), Schoolhouse and Church, New Salem (Rutledge) Tavern, and Joshua Miller Blacksmith Shop.

The latitude coordinates are 39 degrees 59'0" and the longitude coordinates are 89 degrees 50'30". The total car mileage that Anne and Mary traveled is 459.88 miles.
